Why Is Humility Important and How Can Being Humble Help You With Your Goals?
This week I wrote in my journal about being humble and why humility is important.
How did I end up journaling about that?
Well, after I wrote “The Journal Prompt for Today To Feel Less Rushed and Enjoy the Journey”, I thought about why I sometimes seem to forget the lessons that I learned.
Sure, my journal at least helps me to remember them, especially now that I write about it more clearly in Journal Prompts. But, I wanted to understand what other reasons could explain why I sometimes forget the lessons.
That’s why I decided to journal about it, like I always do when I am not sure about something. As you can see in this example, one journal session can lead to the next one and so on. With every one of these sessions you are able to get to know your TRUE self better and improve your life.
You will be able to read more about this in a later part of How To Journal…
So, what did I figure out during my journal session?
While journaling about it, I came to the following conclusions:
1. Everyone is always climbing a new mountain. And on these mountains you go through the same cycle again and again of achieving your goal and switching to a different mountain.
2. When I am about to climb a new mountain, I probably think that I don’t have to pay that much attention to my previous lessons anymore. Because, I have completed these goal achievement cycles before, right?
But the moment I start climbing, I become more emotional and reasoning goes out of the window. It makes me forget to be humble and patient. These emotions make me forget all my lessons and all I see is the mesmerizing peak of the mountain.
3. Because I am so emotional, I also start to get confused and discouraged the second things don’t go as planned. It causes me to forget that mastering one mountain doesn’t mean I am suddenly skilled in climbing other mountains. And it also results in me forgetting that I still have to go through the learning curve and make the unavoidable, beginner mistakes.
(Maybe, you are wondering why I am talking about mountains even though you are here for journaling. To clarify, I am using climbing a mountain as a metaphor for overcoming your obstacles to reach the goals and DREAMS you crave. Ain’t no actual mountain going to be climbed with my current potato cardio. Yeah, I have to start working on that again.)
The above mentioned conclusions can also be true for journaling. It’s just another mountain.
Is there a way to avoid these mistakes for journaling?
You can get my free “top 5 how to journal mistakes” bonus to help you recognize those mistakes faster.
That bonus can help you become a more consistent journaler. It can also help you carry on journaling to make your desired goals and dreams come true.
One of my prompts for you to write about this week, now you know why humility is important
Anyways, so yeah, it’s important for me to have humility and remember my lessons when I try new things, which I do forget often. If I don’t do that myself, then I will be humbled by life and get a reality check when I experience failures.
If I do STAY HUMBLE and expect to make beginner mistakes on the other hand, then it will become easier for me to go through the learning curve and deal with mistakes when they do happen.
Have you experienced this too?
I think this is especially true when you make big life changes or start new goals at a later age. In those situations it’s easier to forget why humility is important, start comparing and feel that you are behind. Because, in those moments you often have to take a step back before you can go into a new direction and that can feel bad…
But, if you really want to reach your goals, is it that hard to endure it for a while? Do you really want to achieve your goals and dreams?
So, here’s one of my prompts for you to write about this week, now you know why humility is important:
“What can I do to humble myself in order for me to keep climbing my current mountain and reach my goals?”
“How to be humble? Can I humble myself or do I choose to be humbled by life? Which beginner mistakes can I expect on my path? What is the best way for me to respond when these mistakes happen? Is there something I can do to prevent myself from giving up on my goals?”
If you have dreams you want to achieve…
CREATE YOUR OWN LUCK!
P.S. In the future I can write more about how to be humble, but why not give this prompt a try in the meantime and see how you personally can improve your life right now?
