How to start a journal: 4 easy journaling topics to write about (as a beginner)
How to start a journal?
Starting to keep track of things in your life with your journal is an easy way to get into the habit of journaling.
What kind of things?
These 4 things ->
1. How to start a journal: Write about your day

One of the most simple ways to start journaling is to start writing about your day. That means writing down what you did that day or what happened to you during your day.
For this, you can pick something that made that day different. It can be something that you will definitely remember when you decide to read your journal for fun. Don’t worry, you can start this with just 1 event or 1 sentence every day, since you are still trying to figure out how to start a journal. After a while, you can write more than that, whenever you feel ready.
2. How to start a journal: Write down your thoughts
Another popular thing to keep track of are thoughts. A lot of people do this to improve their mental health.
As explained in “How to Journal”, writing down your thoughts helps empty your mind and bring more peace in your head. This means less thoughts in your head and subsequently also less negative thoughts in your head.
3. How to start a journal: Write down how you feel
The other thing that people do with their journal, to help improve their mental health, is writing down their feelings. Writing down your feelings on paper helps you have a better understanding of what you are dealing with. This then makes it easier for you to process those feelings.
It’s also an easy way to see whether or not you have been having a lot of negative feelings lately. If that is the case, then you can start with for example gratitude journaling or choose one of the many other ways to improve your thoughts and feelings. This might sound confrontational at first, especially when you are still new and just started to wonder how to start a journal, but it can really help your mental health.
4. How to start a journal: Measure the progress you are having with new habits
Last, but definitely not least way of how to start a journal, is using journaling to keep track of your habits. This is one of my favorite ways to use my journal. If you start journaling every day, like I do, then you will be reminded of your habits every day and that will eventually help improve your life.
One of the habits that I personally track are my sleep habits. This is the most important thing for me to track, because without enough good sleep I won’t be able to do anything, will have bad mental health and it’ll definitely be hard to achieve any dream.
If you have dreams you want to achieve…
