How To Have More Energy for Your Goals and Dreams?
This week’s journal prompt is about how to have more energy for your goals and dreams.
Let me tell you why I started journaling about it this week ->
As I wrote in An Easy Way I Found My Truth, one of my goals right now is to be more compassionate with people. That’s why it’s currently a subject I write about a lot in my own journal.
Have I made progress since I wrote that?
Whenever more complicated subjects come up in conversations, I try to practice it. I did notice a lot of improvement these weeks. However, there are still plenty of times it doesn’t go as planned and I get reminded once again that building a skill needs time.
Whenever it does go as planned, I am able to just listen and be understanding. Those other times I do get into a discussion after a while, because silly me didn’t pay enough ATTENTION…
I noticed it often happens when I hear something surprising and shocking. It makes me forget I am only trying to listen and understand. Instead of doing that, I go all out discussing whatever surprising thing the other person just said.
But in my experience, people will only CHANGE when they really want to and most people are often not ready. In these situations, whatever I say or do won’t make them change their view unless they are ready. It doesn’t matter that it seems obvious to me or that their view even seems harmful to the other person.
Have you also been in frustrating situations like that before, when you do your best to help but it just doesn’t work out?
There is always a small chance that it’s still possible to convince someone, but I have often seen the opposite effect. It often makes people more defensive about their views when I try to convince and rush people who are not ready.
(Here is a joke I once heard about this. How many psychologists does it take to change a light bulb? Only 1, but the light bulb has to want to change.)
In these situations when I try to rush someone who is not ready, I also just waste a lot of my own energy.
One of my other older goals that I try to maintain is having an abundance of energy every day so I can work towards my goals and DREAMS. Having that is important to me, because I know without energy I won’t be able to do anything.
I will write more about that in the future parts of How To Journal….
But yeah, isn’t it kind of useless to have good habits and build up good energy every day, only to waste it again every day?
That doesn’t mean I stop trying to convince and help other people. What I am trying to say with this is, why not FOCUS my energy on the things that people do want to change and get help with? Why not use that extra energy to enjoy life more or to achieve your dreams?
One of my prompts for you to write about this week, now you know one way to have more energy for your goals and dreams
Do you have parts in your life where you waste a lot of energy?
It doesn’t have to be about compassion or trying to convince other people, these are just examples from my journal. It could be anything else. The purpose of these examples above is to inspire you to also journal about your life and goals. That way you can discover who you really want to be and work towards it.
Btw, I still consider myself a beginner when it is about compassion, so take that part with a grain of salt. Again, as mentioned in Journal Prompts, this is just me journaling my experiences in my journal. The journal and mindset lessons I write about however, I am sure about.
Alright, now you know one way how to have more energy for your goals and dreams, here is my journal prompt for this week:
“In what parts of my life am I wasting energy that I could use for my goals and dreams?”
“Why do I still do it, even though it is costing me energy? Is there a better way for me to approach it? What would I spend my energy on if I wasted less energy? Would I have a better chance to achieve my dreams and goals if I had more energy?”
If you have dreams you want to achieve…
CREATE YOUR OWN LUCK!
P.S. I don’t think spending energy on” unproductive activities” in your free time is a waste of energy. If you enjoy it, why not? On the contrary I think that’s time well spent, because resting is also important. Maybe something to write about in the future, whenever I happen to journal about it again…
